What would you say if I told you that you can start earning money from home today? Well, that’s exactly what I’m going to tell you. In fact, you don’t even need to leave your house. All you need is a computer or laptop, a reliable Internet connection, and some basic skills.
Freelance jobs are becoming more and more common. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that freelance workers will account for nearly 20% of the workforce by 2020. If you want to get started freelancing, you should consider starting out part-time until you build up enough experience to land full-time gigs.
You can earn money from home without quitting your day job. There are plenty of ways to make extra cash, such as selling your old stuff on eBay, taking paid surveys, or writing articles for websites.
Freelancing requires technical skills like graphic design, web development or content creation, etc. Most of the time, freelancing does not require any investment before you start making money online. Here is the step-by-step process to start freelancing fast.
-
Learn Some Freelance Skills
First of all, you should learn some computer skills to start freelancing. These skills include but are not limited to graphics designing, video editing, content writing, and web development. You can also use these skills to create websites and apps.
Where to learn freelance skills from?
There are many free resources available online. For example, you can fnd tutorials on YouTube, Udemy, Skillshare, and other platforms. These platforms help you learn different skills. However, my favorite is always youtube since it allows you to learn anything free of charge.
-
Build Online Portfolio
After learning some skills, it’s time to showcase them online. This means creating an online portfolio where you show off your work. It doesn’t have to be fancy; just something that shows your work.
This is a great way for people to see what you can do and get in touch with you if they are interested in hiring you or working together on future projects.
There are many ways to build your portfolio. You can create a website showcasing your skills, write blog posts about your experiences, or create videos showing how you solved problems.
If you already have a website, then you can easily add a page to showcase your skills. However, if you don’t have one yet, there are several options. One option is to use WordPress.com which offers free blogging services. Another option is to use Medium.com, which allows you to publish long-form content.
-
Find Clients & Projects
Now that you have built your portfolio, it’s now time to fnd clients who are looking for help.
The best place to look for clients is through networking. You can join groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, Meetup, etc., where you can connect with potential clients.
Another good resource is Upwork.com. Upwork is a platform where freelancers can post their services. Clients can browse through the listings and choose the ones they want to hire.
-
Get Paid
Once you have found a client, it’s fnally time to get paid!
The easiest way to get paid is through PayPal. Once you have completed the project, send the client an invoice via PayPal. When the client pays you, you can withdraw the payment directly into your bank account.
However, this method may take days to complete. If you need immediate payments, you can set up recurring invoices. This will allow you to set up automatic payments every month.

Repeat Steps 1–4
Freelancing is a lot of fun. But you must remember to keep doing steps 1–4 until you become proftable. There is no shortcut to success.
Freelancing takes hard work and dedication. So make sure to stick to the plan and continue building your portfolio.
