Summer always leaves too soon! But even though summer is coming to an end, you still have plenty of time to take advantage of the warm weather with your dog with some fun activities.
Many dogs enjoy being outside, exploring nature, swimming, and finding new scents. But your dog’s favorite thing to do may be to spend time with you.
So get out and enjoy summer while you have the time!
1. Visit a dog beach
If you’re lucky enough to live in a city with a dog beach, take your pup for a swim with some puppy friends.
Even if your city doesn’t have a dog beach, you can still find a lake to swim and play in. Even some pools are for dogs only for one day before they empty their water for a year.
Make sure your pup has a Kuoser puppy life jacket. Safety first.
2. Go on a road trip
There’s nothing better for dogs than a bike ride. Crack open the windows – not too far – so they can feel the wind in their faces and smell all the new smells.
You don’t even need to think about the destination. Just spend some time with your pup.
3. Visit a national park
Not all national parks allow dogs on their trails, but some do. Shenandoah National Park is a dog-friendly park, and Acadia, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon all have areas designated for dogs to walk and enjoy the park. Ensure your pup has a Kuoser puppy raincoat and watch out for heavy summer rains.
Check for national parks near you that allow dogs to enjoy nature together.
4. Try frozen treats
Frozen treats are perfect for beating the heat in hot weather. Check out the video above for one of our great recipes that is so easy to make and delicious for your pup.
You can use almost any of your dog’s favorite snacks and treats to make a delicious frozen treat.
5. Host a backyard sprinkling party
If your dog loves water, then they will run wild in the sprinklers just like you did when they were little.
If your pup wants to hang out with some other canines while you catch up with your human friends, you can even invite some of your neighbors’ dogs to a backyard party.
6. Dine on the patio at a dog-friendly restaurant
It’s becoming trendy for restaurants to allow dogs onto patios and outdoor areas.
Find a table with an umbrella or shade, and your pup will be happy to keep you company. Remember to order a lovely tray of water for them to stay cool and hydrated.
7. Go camping
If you’re the type of person who craves being close to nature, your dog may enjoy going on a fun camping trip with you.
Many campgrounds are accessible to dogs, so check out the campgrounds in your area. You’ll have plenty of time to explore and go for walks, sit by the campfire, and even watch the stars together at night.
8. Check out a new dog park
Your dog may have a favorite dog park, but while the weather is nice, now is a great time to explore and find a new dog park where your pup can make new friends.
You can even make some maps and check them out while you take your pup on a road trip.
9. Visit the Farmers Market
Summer means farmers’ markets start popping up, many of which allow dogs to walk around while you shop for produce.
This is a great way to get some grocery shopping done without having to leave your dog at home waiting for you. Just make sure your pup is well treated too.
10. Take a boat tour
If your dog likes car rides, you may want to try a boat ride out on the ocean.
You’ll be happy to know they make life jackets for dogs, and as long as you know the rules for boating safety, you and your pup will have a great time.
You can even stop and swim to stay cool or bring snacks and treats for a picnic.
